Extremely unprofessional!! Called for information to rent a van. The lady asked for the destination of the travel. I replied "Bulgaria" and she said their cars were not insured for Bulgaria and hung up.
1) all Belgian insurances have minimum services they legally have to provide to their customers as stated by the BBAV (Belgian Association for Car Insurers). All of the European economic zone MUST be standard included in a car insurance and comprises of the whole of the EU and a few more countries outside the EU. Bulgaria is standard included (also valid for all-risk insurance)
2) On their website they state literally: "For a short drive around Antwerp, or a road trip to Italy? Hiring from Valko Rent a Car gives you freedom of choice." Really??
3) The lady probably assumed I was not a Belgian national and if so this is violation of non-discrimination laws stating you cannot discriminate based on race or nationality. (I am Belgian, have the Belgian nationality so do my parents and grandparents, but even if not so, the cold refusal is inexcusable).
4) I am 57 years old, own a driving license since 30+ years, have sufficient funds on my accounts and own a credit card. I more than satisfy all stated requirements on their own website.
5) commercial companies cannot refuse customers based on trivial criteria. They only can refuse customers if the criteria are clearly stated and those customers do not satisfy all stated requirements.
So please, stay away from this shady business and find your happiness with a respectful customer service somewhere else.

Alles ging goed tot het terugbrengen van de wagen. Ze rekenen schade aan die onmogelijk door ons is toegebracht. (Onbekende wagen zou tegen flank gereden zijn op parking terwijl er steeds 1 iemand naast de wagen is blijven staan. Onmogelijk dus) Dom om de wagen niet zelf eerst te controleren mét foto's. Geloof deze mensen niet op hun woord, maar kijk voor je wegrijdt alles tot in detail na.
